Love and the Momma Bear 💗

Love and the Momma Bear 💗

Mid year already! June feels like the month for getting things sorted. For looking for our fragments of self that we said we’d get to later, and throwing out all the unnecessary baggage that’s been holding us back. So while the Sun will soon enjoy it’s Solstice, for this moon, let us celebrate that which grows our hearts: Love.

“Love of all kinds is never one relationship, it’s always two. The relationship with the other and the relationship with yourself.”

Earthtide Tarot

Summer or winter, single or in a relationship, Love likes to keep us near by helping us to live, not just exist. It prompts us to heed our heart’s wishes and enjoy this precious life. This choice to live your life is purely your own. No other can tell you what you want, or fulfill you if you’ve abdicated your power to make yourself happy to another. Figuring out what we love and then living it is life. Unpredictable, messy, confusing, delicious life.

There are elements of us that we discover when in relationship with others, but far more is discovered when we build a loving relationship with ourselves. It sounds trite, but it’s true. Otherwise, if we’re not in a relationship, we can think we’ll live more when we’re in one. If we’re in one already we can wonder why the other doesn’t see what we need and give it to us (because they love us). If we’re self-aware, we can spot our heart’s voice sneaking into our speech, not for the other person to hear, but for us to hear ourselves. How many times have you said something to someone else, only to realise you’re speaking to yourself?

Love is beautiful and nurturing like a Momma Bear. She’ll protect you, feed you and clobber you around the ear if you’re out of line. Momma Bear Love is sensitive, playful and strong. Our willingness to be vulnerable creates resilience through our ability to feel and communicate. If we can voice our needs to others, we can also voice them to ourselves. Call on Love to give you strength and she’ll cross mountains to help you.

“Honour yourself by being responsible for your own happiness and ask for what you need. Only you can sense the subtle shifts in your needs and find the best expression for them. When you’re self-fulfilled, others feel they have permission to be the same way. We can all be generous, giving and receiving because we know we have, and are, enough.”

Earthtide Tarot

If you’re in the mood to explore, try asking yourself:

  • What do you want, need and love?
  • What’s calling you right now? What can you build upon (rather than break) to answer that call?
  • Where and with whom do you invest your commitment?
  • Who and what knows your consistent effort to create connection?

To work with the gathering energies of the moon, speak your heart, set your intentions and ask for what you need in the 3 nights leading up to full moon. It doesn’t need to be anything fancy, just look up. Words from your heart mean the most.

Thank you for reading and have a great month!

With much love,

Rebecca. x
